Cris grew up in Watsonville, California, and was a multisport athlete from a young age. Cris trained and competed in Tae Kwon Do, earning his black belt and competing in the youth level Olympic trials, as well as playing soccer, baseball, and football. In high school, Cris focused primarily on track & field, as a 100m sprinter.
After high school Cris set his eyes on competing in mixed martial arts. After sixteen amateur fights, Cris decided that MMA was not the path be wanted to pursue, and stepped away from competitive sports for the first time since his childhood.
Cris then found CrossFit while working at Gold’s Gym in 2012. He sought out CrossFit Monterey for guidance in his own training, and after dedicating himself to learning as much as he could about CrossFit, became part of the staff.

Schep is a United States Navy Veteran with 20 years of competitive, lifesaving, and military swimming experience. After working on the Atlantic through college, Schep decided to try his hand in the entertainment industry before enlisting at 26. He was introduced to CrossFit while attending SAR school in Pensacola, but didn’t join a box until 18 months after spinal surgery in 2011. The quality coaching he received as a member of CrossFit Pearl City motivated him to become a coach himself, and he takes great pride in delivering professional instruction with the athletes best interest at heart. His favorite thing in CrossFit is the sense of community. His least favorite thing about CrossFit is that it doesn’t include more water!
He is currently enrolled at California State University Monterey Bay where he studies Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise Science.

Kat was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio and graduated from The Ohio State University with a BA in Exercise Science Education: Health Promotion. She has since had the opportunity to participate in several individual and team competitions, including the Carolina Thunder, a team in the Southern Amateur Grid League. Crossfit quickly developed into a passion that then lead her to become Crossfit Level 1 Certified so she could motivate and train others in the same manner. Kat has had the opportunity to work in various fitness centers, Crossfit gyms, older adult care centers, and physical therapy clinics as both a coach and personal trainer.
